Ranee:

The Ranee was a 5060 GRT Cargo Ship built at Lithgows, Port Glasgow (Yard No. 815) for the Asiatic Steam Navigation Co. The ship was launched 14 June 1928 and completed the following August. She was 121.9 meters in length, 15.9 meters in beam, 9 meters in draught, with 1 triple-expansion engine and a single propeller for 430 n.h.p. and a top speed of 15 knots.

Requisitioned by the British Royal Navy for use during WWII, she saw service on the SL-64 Convoy route (Sierra Leone-UK).
The Ranee sunk in Lake Timsah
On 05 February 1941, the Ranee struck a mine in the middle of the Suez Canal channel in Lake Timsah in an area that had been regularly swept for mines since the 30th of January. 18 personnel were injured with 9 casualties reported. The ship's bow was above water but the engineroom and forward bunker spaces were flooded. The ship was left in place for a period after the sinking as other ships could still pass her in the canal. The forward section was later salvaged and taken to Port Said for use by the Navy.
