Moresby:

The Moresby was originally built as the 1,763 Grt. Jacob Christensen at Raylton Dixon & Co., Middlesbrough (Yard No. 189) for H. Konow & Others, Bergen. Flagged as Norwegian, she was launched 23 November 1881 and completed in January of 1882. In 1898 she was renamed Moresby and was operated by Moresby SS Co., Ltd. (Moller & Co.), Shanghai. At some point the ship was hired or requisitioned by the Royal Navy for war service during WWI and was defensively armed.
