Medway:
The HMS Medway was built as a Submarine Depot Ship for the British Navy by Vickers-Armstrong Ltd., Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria in 1928 with a total GRT of 14,650.
On 30 June,1942 she was torpedoed by German submarine U-372 in grid square CP9236 at 30.03N/30.35E(?) in approximately 15 meters of water with a loss of 30 men of the 1,135 personnel onboard. As a result of the sinking of the HMS Medway, Allied submarine operations in the eastern Mediterranean came to a standstill as a result of the loss of her facilities, which included 114 spare torpedoes and spare submarine equipment and repair parts.
