Kohinur:

The S.S. Kohinur was a passenger/cargo vessel of 2,265 Grt. built by Charles Connel & Co., Scotland (Yard No. 296), Scotstoun, for the Asiatic Steam Navigation Co., Liverpool. Launched 14 June 1905, and completed the following July, the ship was 90.2 meters in length, 12.3 meters in beam, and 6.7 meters in draught. Propulsion machinery consisted of Dunsmuir & Jackson triple expansion engines of 227 nhp with a cruising speed of 12 knots.

On 25 May 1917, while enroute to Karachi from Salonica in ballast, the ship was torpedoed and sunk by German submarine U-38 (Max Valentiner) approximately 150 miles north of Alexandria at location 33.20N/29.50E. Captain Henry S. Terry and 36 personnel lost.
