King Malcolm: The King Malcolm was a carg ship of 4,351 Grt. built at the Stephenson Shipyard (Yard No. 108) in Hebburn for the Scottish Steamship Co., Ltd. (Philipps, Philipps), London. She was a single screw ship with a cruising speed of 9 knots and was 108.3 meters in length, and 15.3 meters in beam. She was launched 10 March 1906 and completed in November of that same year. At some point she was requisitioned for use by the British Government during WWI and defensively armed.
On 28 November 1916 she was torpedoed by German submarine U-39 (Walter Forstmann) 144 miles Northwest-by-North from Alexandria at position 33.14N/28.23E while on the Alexandria/Marsellies-Mauritius route. The ship's Master was taken prisoner. No Photo Available References:
