Not much found on the Jersey here. She was a 4,986 GRT cargo ship built at William Doxford & Sons Shipyard (Yard No. 624), Pallion, Sunderland for Nolisement Steamship Co., Ltd., (Morel), Cardiff. Launched on 20 August 1936 and completed the following October, she was 129.2 meters in length, 16.5 meters in beam, with a single diesel and propeller which provided a top speed of 11 knots.
