Iphegenia:

Not much information is readily available concerning the HMS Ipegenia(may also be spelled "Iphiginia"). We do know that she was a 5th rate store ship built in 1780 armed with 32 12-pounders. The ship was sent as part of an expedition to Egypt in 1801 and, while acting as a troopship under the command of Capt. Hayard Stackpool, was acidentally burned on 20 June, 1801 at Abukir Bay. The crew was rescued with no recorded loss of life.

If anyone has any additional information concerning this vessel, it would be greatly appreciated if that information could be sent to "info@shipwrecksofegypt.com" in order to update this file.
