Ijuin (FV):

The Ijuin (FV) was a trawler of 257 GRT built in 1911, and completed 11 November of the same year, at Smith's Dock in South Bank (Yard No. 476).

On 22 July 1918, while escorting the Lighter L-1 under tow by the tugboat Julia Moran, the group was attached by the German submarine UB51 (Ernst Krafft). The initial target apparently was the lighter, which was hit, after which the tugboat cast off the tow. The Ijuin attempted to engage the submarine with her 6-pounder, but was outgunned and hit several times despite attempting to lay down a smoke screen. The engagement was brought to a stop by submarine's shellfire and the ship was abandoned. The Ijuin sank later that evening at position 35.42N/28.25E. The UB51 fired several additional rounds into the lighter before departing the area.
