Gibel Kebir:

The Gibel Kiber was launched 17 October 1887 as the Eugalia constructed by Raylton Dixon & Company, Middlesbrough-on-Tees (Yard No. 281) for M. Matthys, Antwerp, Belgium. The ship was a small steam cargo ship of 551 GRT, 175 feet in length, 26.6 feet in beam, and 12.3 feet in draught. Propulsion machinery is listed as: T 3-cylinder 80 RHP by Blair & Co., Stockton.

Operated by M. Matthys, Antwerp as Eugalia from 1887-1891. Then as Eugalia from 1891-1892 by M. Matthys & B. Grutering,Antwerp, Belgium. Sold in 1892 to De Clerck & Van Hemelryck and renamed Antverpia and operated by S.A. Belge de Navigation a Vapeur "Schaldis" until 1898 when she was sold to R. Thomson, London and renamed Canisbay. Sold again in 1901 to M.H. Baland & Co., Ltd., Gibralter, and renamed Gibel Kebir until 1940 when she was sold to W.B.P. Smithson. Requisitioned in that same year by the British Government as a storeship for use during WWII and was possibly operating under the name Ajax. During service under the Royal Navy, assisted in the evacuation of refugees from France during WWII on convoy KMS.14X. Returned to W.B.P. Smithson in 1943. Sold to J.E. Arranitopooulo of Port Said, Egypt in 1945 registered as the Gibel Kebir.

Sank/foundered in the inner harbor of Port Said on 12 July 1945 while under repair. Refloated in 1948 and broken up.
