Galatea:

The HMS Galatea was an Arethusa class cruiser of 5,220 tons built by Scott's SB, Greenock (Yard No.559) for the Royal Navy. Launched 09 August 1934 and completed 14 August 1935. 506 feet in length, 51 feet in beam, with a cruising speed of 32 knots. Armament consisted of 6 x 6-inch guns and 8 x 4-inch guns.

While assigned to the Alexandria Fleet, 15th Cruiser Squadron, she was sunk just outside of Khalig EL-Arab (Bay of the Arab) on 14 December 1941 at 31.12N/29.15E in approximately 660-meters of water by three torpedoes fired from U-557 (Paulshen). The ship's Captain, Captain E. B. Sims, 22 Officers and 447 ratings were lost as a result of the sinking. There were 144 survivors.
