Fulminante:
Not much information available on the HMS Fulminante. The ship was a 10-gun Cutter captured from the French by the British Navy in 1798. At the time of her wrecking she was under the command of Lieut. Robert Corbet.
Two sources indicate running aground and wrecking in two different locations. One states that the ship ran aground in AbuKir Bay on 24 March 1801. However, another sources states that the ship was in service off the coast of Egypt from 08 March until 02 September 1801 (the ship was gotten off?). The other source states that the ship ran aground and drifted ashore in 1801 at La Crelle and was declared a total loss. If you have any additional information concerning this vessel it would be greatly appreciated if it would be sent to "info@shipwrecksofegypt.com" in order to update this file. No Photo Available |
