Not much else is known about the ship itself, except that she had no figuirehead mounted on the bow. In the lifetime of the ship, only 6-years, she had 2 masters: Woodworth, William Henry (born Windsor, N.S.)......Master's Certificate #9029 Master from 14 August 1865-16 September 1867 Allen, John Henry (born Chelsea or Boston, Mass., USA).......Master's Certificate unknown Master from 02 September 1869-24 September 1870. The Bessie Harris also had three owners over the years as well. Master Woodworth owned 64% interest in the ship from 1864 unitl 16 September 1867. Master Allen owned 64% interest in the vessel from 02 September 1869 until 24 September 1870. The third owner was a Mr. William H. Harris from Cornwallis, N.S. who own shares in the ship from 14 August 1865 until 06 February 1867.

The Besse Harris completed 5 voyages between 1864 and 1869. Her 6th voyage was from Cardiff, West Glamorgan to Port Said, Egypt, where she arrived safely. However, while at Port Said she caught fire on 25 September 1870 and was declared a total loss.
