There are archaeological remains of Egypt's past maritime and nautical history and culture located off of every coast. From the Sadana Island Shipwreck, to the sunken cities of Abukir, to the Siwa Oasis, one can find artifacts from the Ptolemaic and Roman periods, Ottoman periods, and the Napoleonic era.

As there are so many archaeological sites present lying just offshore, access is restricted to many of these sites and others are only now being opened to recreational diving. Please be aware that disturbing or removing any artifacts is against Egyptian law, as well as it destroys the provenience of the artifact in relation to other artifacts located in the area. This essentially destroys the possibility of trained archaeologists learning about the past history of Egypt. So please....take only pictures and memories, leave only bubbles. Leave anything you may find "in-situ"....
